Online course on Comprehensive Security now available in English at eOppiva

 

The online course “Comprehensive Security concerns us all” has been published in Swedish and English.

The Finnish model of Comprehensive Security is internationally unique. Its core lies in broad-based cooperation and a common goal: to strengthen the resilience of the whole of Finnish society. To make the Security Strategy for Society more accessible to the public, an open online course was developed in cooperation with HAUS Finnish Institute of Public Management Ltd on the eOppiva platform.

The objective of the course is:

• Introduce the principles of Comprehensive Security and their role in societal resilience
• Help participants recognize their own role and responsibility as actors in Comprehensive Security
• Enable participants to apply the model of Comprehensive Security from their own standpoint – in everyday life, in professional environments and in communities

A strategy paper alone does not produce security – concrete knowledge and application are required. Centralizing the individual as a key actor in security has been a significant development in the latest Security Strategy for Society. To support this emphasis, the course promotes learning through reflective questions and fictional example characters.

Four imaginary characters appear throughout the course, demonstrating the application of Comprehensive Security in different environments. Their stories help emphasize how everyone can be a part of building Comprehensive Security, regardless of their role in society or stage of life. Explore how:

Who can take the course?

The course is available to everyone, including officials, organizations, educational institutions, professional communities and individuals. It is also an excellent introduction to the principles of Finnish security thought.
